A PERSONAL MESSAGE | WHY UNION BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Basketball has always been a part of my identity and a source of inspiration, discipline and connection throughout my life. Upon completion of my post-secondary education, I really believed I was going to be a part of the local Edmonton basketball community and be involved in some capacity. I was involved with Northern Alberta Basketball (NAB), worked with NBA Canada, coached and enjoyed being a part of different local basketball events. However, life happens and maybe it just wasn’t the right time.

For years, I was trying and thinking of ways to get back into the local Basketball Community and making an impact. So, I asked myself what gives me energy? The answer was what I was currently doing – bringing people together and organizing pick-up basketball or even taking the administrative role for our Men’s league team. Why not take it to another level?

That sense of unity is what inspired the name Union Basketball League: A league where everyone belongs, building competition and connection. To me it’s about unity, growth, and the love of the game—values that have always guided me and that I hope will inspire everyone who joins the league.

I believe, I have found that passion project worth pursuing and putting my energy into something positive in Union Basketball League.
